Barbican Young Curators Group
Role: Project Lead/Mentor
Between October 2018 and June 2019 I led the first Young Curators Group at the Barbican. The programme created space for young people to develop their curatorial practice and archiving skills through exploring the Barbican’s archive and exhibition making as part of a HLF project.
The group met monthly to engage in various strands of activity such as exhibition planning, talks from Curators and other colleagues across the Barbican and externally. Additionally, the group visiting Goldsmiths Women’s Art Library which proved to be a catalyst for how the group would present the themes they had started to identify as areas of interest during the research.
The session at the Women’s Art Library consisted of an introduction to the archive, discussions facilitated by me and delivery by mixed media artist/designer, archivist and organiser Ego Ahaiwe-Sowinski.
